Super fun Verification time!
(Picture is completely irrelevant, but wouldn't it be awesome if your desk was this clean? I wish mine was...)
Hello my favourite Bitcoin people!
First of all I would like to say, thank you so much your love and support over the past 10 months. It's been nearly a year since we launched the BB payment processor, and WOW hasn't there been a lot of awesome stuff said about that! The majority of you have been loving the new instant release features with FlexePin and POLi transactions, so much so, it has ranked Bitcoin Babe as the #1 Australian LocalBitcoin's trader by trade volume! Go Team!
With the growing popularity of Bitcoin Babe as the go to gal for your Bitcoin needs, some of you may or may not be aware about my intention of transitioning away from LocalBitcoin's, and onto my own independent site (Finally!). That being said, there is still a long way to go yet with that, and my team and I will keep you up to date with all the info when the time comes for beta testing (Be sure to subscribe to our mailing list so you don't miss out!).
In the mean time though, there are some things I would like to take care of, before that transition happens, to ensure a more smoother and efficient process for customers.
When I started Bitcoin Babe back in 2014, some of you were not asked to provide ID. As time went on, the policies surround ID verification were changed and upgraded to ensure that KYC/AML/CTF requests were met. During this time, I also made many changes to ensure the safety and security of how verification's were conducted and stored in the best manner possible.
With a looming legislation change surrounding how Bitcoin business conduct themselves (you can see more information about that in this article here, or you can see the full parliament draft here) I have decided to re-conduct ID verification's for select customers to ensure our database is up to date.
I understand this is more than likely going to be a pain in the butt for a lot of you, and to be blunt with you, I'd much rather be chillin with the bitcoin homies than doing data entry all day. But hey, when duty calls, Bitcoin Babe must stand up and accept the call. To ensure we can work through this as painlessly as possible together, I've provided a few tips below:
Become familiar with the new ID verification process.
I've written tutorials about how the ID verification is conducted which you can see here. You can also check out how it works in the payment processor here. Following the instructions precisely will make for less delays in confirming your verification.
Place a small order first to avoid delays.
As POLi is for "existing verified customers only" POLi will no longer be a payment option in the payment processor, until your ID is verified. This means you will need to process your order by Bank Transfer first, before you will have access to POLi next time.
I recommend placing a small order (less than $10) so you can get your ID verified first, that way, when you come back for your next order, you can use POLi again for a swift release as per normal.
As mentioned before, some of you have never had to verify your ID in the past, and I would understand if these new rules are against your belief about Bitcoin being an anonymous market. While completing the ID verification is not compulsory, it will mean however that you will be restricted to which payment methods you can use to purchase Bitcoin. In saying that, I try my best to accommodate for every customers requirements, and if you check out the payment options here, you can find payment methods I accept that do not require ID verification.
Rest assured, Bitcoin Babe PTY LTD is an Australian Company that adheres to Australian laws and business practices. A full copy of the terms and conditions can be found here. As of the 10th of March 2016, Bitcoin Babe is a registered business that has met and complied with the Australian Privacy Act 1988, which is recognized by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner - this means, that with the upmost due diligence, your information (including photos) are stored in the most secure and safest way possible.
With that all said and done, I would like to thank you for your continued business and support of Bitcoin Babe, and I deeply apologize for the inconvenience that this may have caused you.
